the studio where i took my first ballet class remains close to my heart. i try and book it whenever i can when scheduling private duo classes with my dance buddy and colleague at le centre de danse du marais. this morning, i'll put on my blue steel grey canvas split soles for the first time this year, and on the first day of the waxing new moon, the influence of which is creative expression. i can't wait to get back into the halls of the haussmanian style building via its exposed stone passage and across its leafy courtyard, bypassing all walks of dancers from students and teachers café breaking between classes to amateurs and professionals alike rushing to/from rehearsals. there is a very cool vibe bouncing between the aging yet untired walls of the centre, it's an invigorating energy that runs alongside the contrasting musical beats echoing across its space. i do believe its the vibration of absolute freedom. as isadora duncan put it, 'if i could tell you what it meant there would be no point in dancing it'.
