after 6 years of roughing it on a basic go sport frame that, while serving me well, has recently literally rattled my bones, i have finally upgraded my wheels to dutch standards. who'd have thought that effortless shifting, consistent braking, front wheel centering and integrated bungee straps would come to mean so much to me, not to mention the fenders, mud flaps, skirt guards and happy bell that my new azor jersey comes with. the thick, baked on black glossy finish is as highly resistant as it is environmentally friendly and the new gel seat has ergonomic suspension. yes!
apparently "on our bikes you will never be the fastest person on the road, though many times you may be the most stylish, relaxed and comfortable rider on the road."
the thing is, i am on my bike every day, travelling from a to k to z. recently i've noticed that i'd prefer to take the metro, walk or even push my bike for reasons unrelated to weather. if travelling, it might as well be in style. and when exerting effort, it really ought to be with economy, biomechanically efficient with ease of movement. it just doesn't make sense to choose otherwise.
for bicycle street style as it is meant to be, see copenhagen cycle chic.
