raspberries

my clandestine friend mentioned the word raspberry the other day and i haven't stopped thinking about it since.  as colours go, it's the one that's always on my mind, a deep reddish pink like that of a ripe raspberry.  so it makes sense that when the time came to celebrate self indulgence, mine was to be inspired by no other fruit, colour or berry (and i do love both, colour and berries).  miu miu's new ad campaign shot in ny last november celebrates an array of raspberry tones creating a look that uk vogue explains as being inspired by the films of italian film director federico fellini.  miuccia prada's vision of the miu miu woman being 'continually redefined..with each chapter becoming yet another facet of a crystalline, complicated feminine ideal. where an ingrained elegance meets immediacy and lightness. where independence, improbably, meets sensuality. where sophistication meets nonchalance' for some reason reminds me of a cluster of reddish pink drupelets, soft and edible, impossible to define.

to my delight, a specially made raspberry tart was served as my dessert last night, pre ordered in advance with a customised short crust, rolled and baked to my taste, on a rarely celebrated occasion and the very evening of my raspberry hued purchase.  the tart was delicious and the evening sweet. i will be reminded of it every time i glance at my raspberry bauletto. that and of balzac's extrait de la comédie humaine:  la passion est toute l'humanité.
