l'été à paris

life has been hectic since my last post, inspired amidst the height and flurry of paris' fashion week. the launch of the spring/summer collections is the city's seasonal wake up call beckoning the fashion-conscious and fashionably-aspired alike to embrace lighter layers, taller heels and celebrate brighter colours and flatter slippers in the dawn of spring and the wake of the promised summer.  it is without a doubt one of the busiest and most energised transitions of the year as parisians prepare for bluer, sunnier skies and all the riches of funner social agendas to match.  this year, it also felt like one of the longest and i found my spirits fluctuating with the moody, emerging weather.

and so i began to participate in the very french custom of taking weekend trips away from paris more and more frequently, in order to replenish my energy 'a la provence'.. and i've taken quite a liking to it.  of course, there's not much to dislike about la vie provencienne where the air is pure, the produce is field fresh organic and the pace allows your body to readjust to its own biorhythms.  by the end of a long weekend, i feel rested, rejuvenated and reconnected, excited to be heading back to the city i adore.

this week i've returned from a week-long, working sejour in Cascais, the seaside provence of Portugal, and have come home to blooming buds and blossomed flowers all over paris.  the sun is here to stay, the atmosphere is tropically moist and the days are long and bright.  i left paris at the end of its temperamental spring and have returned to find myself cycling in fit flops.  if there is one thing i love about living in europe, it is enjoying full exposure to the diversity of all 4 seasons.
this week's weather and waxing moon officially marks Summer in Paris - the Season of Play.
